Drive based safety

Our safety engineering is integrated in the drive. Modular safety functions of various scopes are available as options. The functional differentiation begins with 'safe torque off' and support for parameterisable functions such as 'safely limited speed' and extends to incorporation in the safety bus systems. Active and passive safety sensors can be connected up directly using two-channel safe inputs. The modular approach also safeguards future scope for growth and ensures flexibility.

Lenze's 9400 series is the right module for scalable safety functions. The safety module chosen is inserted in a slot reserved for safety engineering on the standard device, and the sensor technology used externally is connected up directly to the safety module. This ensures that the safety function is triggered at the very point at which the dangerous movement occurs – in the controller. Parameters for the safety functions are set conveniently using the standard device's engineering tool. If safety functions are not needed in the application, module SM0 (no safety functions) should be used so that the controller can be released and operated.
